Underhanded.
Shifty.
Dubious.
Fishy.
There are more in the thesaurus, but I’ll stop there.
Yesterday, The Client team was having a meeting. A very important meeting. Spreadsheets were projected on the wall. Pricing. SLA’s. Confidential stuff.
Sales Weasel caught wind of the 2:00 gathering (mainly by putting together that all the key players all independently said they had to be at a 2:00 when he asked about afternoon times.).
So he showed up and squatted in the lobby. Sent us an email “I’m out here! Been here awhile! I’ll stay here until your meeting is over!”
So that’s shady enough, but as the Procurement Weasel, I was worried this guy would manage to sneak in through the badge doors (it happens a lot) and would find his way to the conference room (right in that main hall) and catch wind of what was doing in this very hotly contested RFP.
While I appreciate his enthusiasm, I can’t get over how utterly shifty that whole scenario was.
I marched out to the lobby, asked what he wanted and sent him packing.
He represents the lead runner in the RFP race. But this latest bit of shenanigans may have set them back a bit.
